Employers Go Green and Then Some

A good friend to the Orlando JobSpot, Lindsey Pollak, was quoted in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday about the change that is occurring with employers becoming more “green friendly.” She states that,

"Students are looking to work for companies that care about the environment. They are almost expecting greenness like they expect work-life balance, ethnic diversity and globalization."

Pretty bold words but I tend to agree. As a job seeker you have a right as to what company you work for and why you work for them. You can choose a company based on its location, job duties, co-workers, reputation, benefits or a bevy of other options. I strongly agree that a company being “green friendly” is a concern of people in my millennial generation. We care about the environment; we have a political stance, wish to contribute to non-profits and organizations that will promote our well being and self-promotion.

It is up to employers to see these needs and make a change within their infrastructure to not only attract the best possible candidates but also make for a better environment in which we live in.

I would like to open the floor to everyone and their thoughts on what employers can do make their workplace friendlier to the “green movement,” personal beliefs and the desire to give more to the community than a paycheck.

Tomorrow, be sure to drop by for full coverage of IKEA mania and what it means to Orlando!

Happy hunting Orlando.
